| Cheat Codes: ------------ Submitted by: David K. Tips for Beginner Offenses and Defenses: ---------------------------------------- For any beginner, the basics are of utmost importance. As such, here are some simple tips for those wanting to get better at both aggressive and defensive play. For offense, the most important thing to understand is that coverage can hamper your game play. Gone are the days of defenders just randomly flying up in your face and being able to randomly get a block. Instead, timing is key. Make sure to maximize the efficiency of your shots by trying to always find the open player. The more open the player is, the better chance their shot has of going in, whether it’s a 3pt shot, or a drive through an open lane. For defense, the most important thing is understanding how to cover your opponent. Each player, at the start of the defensive phase, is assigned a man-to-man defense. As such, it is your job, depending on who you pick, to defend your man and not let them get any open space. Also, time your jumps and block attempts. If you jump, or attempt a steal, and miss, you have now given your opponent a large window of opportunity to make a play, as you need to recover from your unfortunate mistake. Locker Codes: ------------- How to enter Locker Codes? Follow these simple steps; * Go to “MyTeam” from the main menu. * Scroll over to “settings” on the far right. * Select the “Locker Codes” option to enter the code. * The code is not case sensitive, you can enter it all lower case. * You must include the dashes. -=Locker Codes List - Free VC Points=- Code: THANKYOUMYTEAMCOMMUNITY Code: HZ84F-HG82V-WPD76-37AYT-921DW Useful Tips & Tricks: --------------------- -=Try Different Camera Perspectives=- The game’s default camera perspective lets you view the action from the side but if you feel that this doesn’t suit you, you can opt for a different setting. You can go to the settings and try out different camera settings to find the one that you find most comfortable to play with. -=Master The New Shot Meter=- This game brings a new shot meter which wasn’t there in previous entries in the series. This time around, you will be able to see a meter next to the player and to ge tthe best shot possible, you should let go of the ball when the meter is the highest. -=Use Bounce Passes=- There are lots of different kinds of passes in the game that will be of use in different situations. However, each of them carries some risks too. The best pass to use early on and which comes with low risk is the bounce pass, so make sure you use it when you need to pass the ball to a nearby player. -=Wait For An Opening=- Don’t always go for shots if it’s going to end up with you losing possession for the ball. Sometimes, the best tactic will be to just pass the ball to nearby teammates and then wait for an opening so that you can get an easier shot. -=Be Careful With The Turbo Button=- Don’t always use the Turbo button as it will leave your players exhausted and it also prevents you from making those subtle plays that are needed to score points. Use it only when absolutely necessary and at other times, moving at normal speed is good enough. -=Start With A Bad Team=- Apart from the great feeling of bringing the underdog team to victory, it’s also great to start with a not-so-great team simply because it will guarantee you a greater amount of play time which will lead to greater pay, and so on. -=Indicators Show Whom To Defend Against=- On most difficulties, the game will provide visual aides which will show you which player you’re supposed to focus on when playing defense. Pay attention to these indicators to play exactly what’s required of your player’s position in the team. Getting A Good Teammate Grade: ------------------------------ When playing offense, you should focus on hitting the gym and also on getting a good teammate score. Try not to dominate the court, and stick to your position. This is because messing up can lead to you getting a lower teammate score. Try and learn the play style of each player and then only take open shots. You should also learn how to play as a part of the team and try to assist your teammates with screens whenever possible. Another important thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t over-dribble as this will lead to a turnover for sure. When a turnover is caused, you should immediately run back to defend against the opposing team. When on defense, the goal is to keep the opposing team from scoring whenever possible. Make use of locking on as this will you to stick to a player. However, don’t always do this because it won’t be useful in some situations. Any good defensive move such as blocking a shot or stealing the ball will boost your teammate grade. How to Scan Your Face: ---------------------- You need the MyNBA2K20 app downloaded onto a compatible iOS and Android device. * Make sure you’ve set up your MyPLAYER account and connected it to both NBA 2K20 and MyNBA2K20. * In MyNBA2K20, select “Scan Your Face,” at the bottom of the Profile screen. * Follow the on-screen prompts. * Watch your face become one of the most popular in the NBA. Tips for Scanning Your Face: ---------------------------- Make sure your face is in even lighting from the front with as few shadows as possible. * This is the single biggest cause of bad scans. * It can be hard to keep your eyes open in direct light. If you need to blink, stop moving your head so the app will not take any pictures at that moment. * Hold the phone at eye level. * Many people hold it a few inches too low and point it back up. * Hold the phone around 18” from your face. * You don’t necessarily need to make your face fill up the outline on the screen. * Turn your head slowly to a max of 45 degrees. * Look forward as you turn your head. * Many people try to stay focused on the phone. * As you turn your head, make sure you are not just pointing your chin from side to side. * Many people do this because they are subconsciously trying to keep their eyes on the phone. MyTeam Mode Tips: ----------------- Your go-to strategy for staring out with be to pick the starter pack with the most silver players. This will help you get an upper hand in matches early on. Secondly, you might want to keep an eye on the heat check cards. These are special packs of cards that will quickly rise in value over time, so get them as soon as possible. You can then choose to use them for yourself or sell these cards at tremendous profits at the Auction House. Regarding the main currency of the MyTeam Mode, MT coins, they are hard to come by but if you get a hand on some, try to save up on it. Eventually, you will come to a point where you can buy expensive and legendary player cards to build a near-perfect version of your team. Spending it quickly will not yield such good results, wait for something better. Patience is key here. We are looking at around 10k MT coins before you can even think of spending anything. Challenges within the MyTeam mode will allow you to get a decent amount of reward tokens for not that much of an effort. The difficulty level is not too much either and so it is a walk in the park. You can also try to team up with your friends and carry out these challenges to put the fun factor into it as well! How to Get more fans for the best endorsements (MyCareer): ---------------------------------------------------------- In NBA 2K20, reaching a certain amount of fans will net you some endorsements. The first few endorsements provide a one-time endorsement paycheck. Once you reach the upper endorsement tiers, you can partner with popular brands to earn a steady stream of VC through appearance events. For example, getting the Gatorade endorsement gives you the chance to earn over a few hundred or thousands of VC per match, a performance incentive based of your choice, and free Gatorade Boosts. So, how do you get more fans to reach the better endorsements? Simply perform a few highlight plays, score some buzzer beaters, play to the fans, earn a triple-double, and get 50 points in a single game, among others. You should also consider spicing up your offensive moves so you can get over 1,000 fans for each highlight play. How to Maximize your VC in The Neighborhood: -------------------------------------------- NBA 2K20 has added a few extra ways you can earn VC fast in NBA 2K20, which actually feel like a free-to-play game in nature. For starters, there’s a Daily Spin in the Ante-Up building located in The Neighborhood. Spin the wheel on a daily basis for a chance to earn some cosmetic items, fans, VC, or others. There are also Daily Rewards, which require you to accomplish the requirements for the day to get the prize. Daily Rewards oftentimes net you either VC or points for breaking your attribute cap. Other ways to earn quick VC in The Neighborhood include the trivia or dodgeball matches. Contracts Tips: --------------- Contracts are probably one of the most confusing and complex parts of the game. They can easily feel overwhelming, but a good practice, just like with anything with money, is to be frugal. Really, you don’t have to worry about the cost of individual contracts too much, but it is something to keep in mind. What you really need to keep an eye on is your cap space. If you go over budget, you can end up losing a key player you didn’t want to lose. What you really need to pay attention to is the contract length, contract options, and how it affects the cap. Sometimes giving a player a max contract can be worth it when they’re your franchise player. But, you have to keep in mind if you’re a small market team, you may not be able to afford another star player and you’d really have to focus on your system. Team options are always better than player options. Okay, in real life I want players to have that freedom, but in this game, I want to decide whether a player stays or leaves. The worst thing that can happen is a below average player accepting a player option that you didn’t want and as a result, you can’t afford the players you wanted in free agency. Bird years is a pretty confusing concept, but basically it means you can sign a player for over your salary cap if they’ve played for you for over three consecutive years. It’s extremely useful if you have a young core and they all came in at the same time. If you can hold on to your young core for three years, you can resign them for over your budget and then sign some veterans for the minimum to fill out the rest of the roster. How to Create a Crew: --------------------- Follow these simple steps: * After logging into your MyCareer select the “Nav” button (for Xbox this is the “Y” button on your controller). * Scroll down and select the “CREW” button. * Once selected a secondary menu will appear. Select “CREATE CREW”. * Enter a new CREW team name and select “Done”. * Enter a City Name and select “Done”. * Enter a CREW Abbreviation and select “Done”. * Once you have entered a CREW Team Name, City Name, and Abbreviation select “CONTINUE”. * Use the “CREW COLORS” and “CREW LOGO” options to set up the color and logo styles for your new CREW team. * Once you have finished setting up the branding of your CREW, exit the screen (for Xbox this can be done by pressing “B” ) and you will be asked if you would like to keep or remove your changes. * If you are happy with your CREW brand select “KEEP CHANGES AND EXIT” * In the navigation menu you have the option to edit your crew jersey and branding should you wish to make additional changes. Do this by following steps 1 and 2, then selecting “EDIT CREW”. * Be sure to save all your changes. How to Skip Cutscenes: ---------------------- All you have to do, when a cutscene starts playing that you simply don’t care about watching, is to press and hold X on PS4, and A on Xbox One. You’ll see a little X or A button icon appear at bottom center of the screen, and a red circle will start to fill around it. Once you’ve held down the button for long enough that the red circle is all the way around the button prompt, NBA 2K20 will skip the cutscene, and you can carry on playing, rather than watching and waiting. How to Score Points Easily: --------------------------- * Always remember to substitute players. You can call a timeout by pressing the middle button on the Dualshock 4, or the back button on the Xbox One controller, and from here you can swap out players that are worn out. Don’t be afraid to swap out one player for another, even if the player coming in has a worse overall rating. * Remember: the pick and roll play is key to scoring reliably. No, it’s not exactly the most stylish move in the playbook, but pressing the left bumper and moving a player into position is always a great tactic to try and get a step on your defender. * Release the Bar When the Meter Is Full. Although this may seem like common sense, the Shot Meter is a brand new addition to the series so many people may not know about it. Release your shot when the meter on the bar next to y our player is full. * Manage Your Stamina. Remember that the more tired your player is, the more inaccurate he will be. Make sure that you do not tire your players out by constantly springing everywhere. You can easily just jog onto the opponent’s side of the court sometimes rather than waste your energy sprinting. * Understand Your Team. Another thing that you really need to know about is who the best players on your team are. If you are not an avid NBA fan, then it might be good to look at the stats of each player to see how they stack up amongst themselves. You can also use the Practice Mode to get better at shooting and learn all of the button combinations for the moves. How to Steal the Ball: ---------------------- Whenever you’re on your opponent, on defense, you’re going to first want to get in close to them if they have the ball. Then, you simply need to press Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One in order to attempt a steal. Keep in mind that your attributes will affect your success rate at this. Don’t go mashing the Square or X button, by the way. You’ll leave yourself vulnerable to be juked and dunked on.
